Tweeting to raise breast cancer awareness

Click “Read More” below to view the story Breast Cancer and Mothers’ Health on Storify. Continue to watch the hashtag #SCCAbc on Twitter throughout the month of October for information about breast cancer from UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center & Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.

October 2, 2012

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we’re going to be sharing important information about the disease all month long—and we’re bringing friends.

UW Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center will be collaborating with us in sending out weekly tweets that offer information about genetics, prevention and screening, scientific breakthroughs, early detection, and more.

Follow the hashtag #SCCAbc and keep any eye on the Twitter handles @SeattleCCA, @UWMedicineNews, and @HutchinsonCtr.

In addition, two incredible Seattle doctors have enthusiastically agreed to be guests in a “Twitterview,” or Twitter-based interview, about mothers’ health in breast cancer.

Dr. Julie Gralow at @jrgralow (SCCA, UW School of Medicine), and Dr. Wendy Sue Swanson at @SeattleMamaDoc (The Everett Clinic, Seattle Children’s).

The Twitterview will take place Monday, October 15 at 12:00 p.m. Tune in for the conversation, or come prepared with questions and the hastag #SCCAbc.

Special thanks to Safeway for their contribution to this endeavor, and for yet another year of fundraising on our behalf.
