Class Descriptions

Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon: Come and discuss the stress of the role of caregiving and methods to deal with stress. Offered the 3rd Wednesday of each month

De-Stress and Relaxation Exercises: Drop in for a cup of tea, listen to music, get a hand massage, and relax. Offered the 1st and 4th Thursday of each month

Food Safety Class: Food safety in grocery stores, home, and restaurants will be discussed.

Healing Music Program: Local musicians volunteer their time and talents to play soothing music in the reception areas of the SCCA Clinic. Dates and times vary depending on musician availability.

Introduction and Orientation to the SCCA: Please join us in this Drop-in virtual tour and overview of the SCCA services and support. There will be a question and answer period following the tour.

“Knit for Life”: Learn how to knit or expand your knitting skills, and get to know other patients, caregivers, and wonderful volunteers. Knitting needles and yarn are provided.

Labyrinth Walk: Walking an ancient spiritual path helps promote relaxation, meditation, spiritual and personal healing and enrichment.

Laughs and Lunch: Come relax, enjoy snacks and get in a good laugh. Lecture and Lunch: Come enjoy snacks and learn about the selected topic.

Long Term Follow up Orientation: Provides life-long support to people who have had a hematopoietic cell transplant.

Managing Care at Home, Transition Class: (Transplant Patients Only) Includes an overview of the Bone Marrow Transplant Process, patient/caregiver roles, managing symptoms and recovery at home and phases of transplant.

Sexuality Drop-in Discussion: Helpful hints will be provided for coping with side effects that impact sexuality. Offered the 3rd Thursday of each month

SCCA Living Tobacco Free Drop-In: Come learn about strategies and tips for quitting tobacco. All are welcome. For questions, staff, patients and caregivers can contact the SCCA Living Tobacco Free Services at 206-288-7766.

Support Group for Patients after Transplant: (Caregivers Welcome) Provides peer support to LTFU participants. There is special emphasis on patients who have experienced chronic post transplant medical and resource issues.

Therapeutic Yoga: This class focuses on developing an awareness of the body, the breath, and the mind through the use of guided movement, breathing, sounds and meditation. For patients, caregivers and survivors. There are no physical limitations to attending.

Weekly Bible Study and Intercessory Prayer, (Christian Tradition): Open to patients, families and staff and held at the SCCA House
